When we moved into our house over four years ago we recognized that there were some things we wanted to change. Since the house still belongs to my father-in-law (who lives in the finished basement) we didn’t want to do anything too drastic until we actually take over the mortgage. So we’ve kept it small with a few updates here and there.
However, the progress of even these small updates has been so much slower than either of us ever anticipated. The two biggest factors in updating any home are time and money. Or in our case, lack thereof!
Two summers ago we finally got around to having our living and dining room painted. Last winter hubby finally put up the fireplace mantle. This summer I stained the two decks and front porch. Each and every time we finish a project it feels like a brand new home to me. Even the smallest updates can make a huge impact!
My biggest vision for change has always been for our kitchen, where we spend the most time together as a family. It is fairly large and open, which I love, but I’ve never been happy with the counter-tops, flooring, cabinets, or the blaring white kitchen faucet. Um, I kind of want to gut it and start over. Since that’s not happening anytime soon, you can probably imagine my excitement when I was contacted by Pfister to review one of their Pasadena Slate kitchen faucets!
Yes please!!! Our off-white faucet was starting to leak and had splatters of paint (from the above mentioned living room re-do) that I hadn’t been able to remove. A new faucet is just what we needed to give our kitchen a new look for the New Year!
A few weeks before Christmas I received an early gift from Pfister, my new Pasadena Slate faucet! I enlisted hubby’s help with removing the old and installing the new.
The process was fairly quick and definitely painless. Within an hour we had a brand new and beautiful faucet installed in our kitchen sink!
This faucet is perfect for our kitchen. Not only is it gorgeous, it’s also functional. The exclusive Slate finish is smudge-proof, so it resists the build up of fingerprints or water stains that usually appear after frequent use. This is a huge plus in our house! Between mommy constantly trying out new recipes, three messy kiddos and a hubby who’s always up to his elbows in a car our kitchen sink gets A LOT of traffic.
The pull-down feature allows for versatile use and no messes in a crowded kitchen which is awesome! But, I’m not going to lie, one of my very favorite features is the pump for dish soap. Like I said before, it’s the little things that can truly make a difference. Not having the bottle of Dawn topple into the sink while doing the dishes is one of those differences for me. It does wonders for Mommy’s mental health!
