It’s summer, eat fresh & local ~ Wordless Wednesday w/ linky

Eat fresh and local this summer

I know that I say it all the time but I LOVE summer food! After months and months of casseroles, roasts, stews, and frozen dinners in the winter months it’s so nice to switch over to the fresh eats of summertime! We grow many of our own veggies in the garden and what we don’t have available just outside the front door we pick up at the local produce stand down the road.

My girls love fruit in any form but there is just something satisfying as a parent to watch them eating strawberries right off the bush in the front yard. We spend afternoons picking berries at a local farm and then turn them into jars and jars of homemade jam.

Our summer meals are made up of fresh, local fruits and vegetables typically paired with the grilled meat of the day.  Meals are quick, easy, healthy and most  importantly delicious! Plus, by shopping the nearby produce stands and farms we are helping the local economy which always feels good!

Eat fresh_1 Eat fresh_2 Simple and #fresh tomato #recipe. Perfect for #summer!
What are your favorite ways to eat fresh in the summer months? Do you grow your own or do frequent the local farm stands?
